Day 68-Corn patch food plot

After disking around the ends of the rows, we got 0.65" of rain last evening.

Corn is continuing to grow, the bees are so thick on the tassles that their buzzing is very noticeable even to an ol', half deaf, guy like me.

Spoke with Arlo Kane the FWC biologist about further management of the plot and he suggested, as did "davedirt" and "Triple Creek Reaper", that shooting lanes would need to be mowed after the corn is mature as we will not be picking it as a crop. After a little discussion, we concluded that mowing from far sides , toward the shooting house, radial fashion would probably work best.

The deer are now feeding on a peanut patch, where corn was planted last year. Got a while to go before the season. When I see any pattern as to a travel route into the corn we will set out a camera. Treefarmer

I really look forward to these updates Treefarmer. I can not wait to see the finished product. When you get that radial pattern cut into the plot, I would like to see some pics from the shooting house. I can almost imagine it now.

I too look forward to your reports.
With the price of corn going up so much lately maybe you should pick and sell those corn...
