The Beretta X-TREMA Camo 3 1/2" is unbeatable for ducks, doves, geese, crows, pigeons, or anyother high flyers and it will take a beating and keep on shooting, even if you have to use it for a paddle or crunch if your stuck in the mud. Easy to clean also... It will also shoot the 2 3/4" light loads just as well as the heavy loads. Well worth the money!!!!
back when I duck hunted Long Island from a crappy little leaky john boat we often had to break the ice around shore to get the boat in the water, and it was real rough on guns so it was basicly either mosberg or rem 870's with full chokes and they didn't have camo then and steel shot was not req'd. after that I hunted the south platte river in commerce city colo a beutiful little stretch of the river that you could just barely wade across between 2 farms and the only way in was on foot or my motorcycle would make it thru the narrow gates and I would ride wearing my snomobile suit under my waders with my leather jacket over that and have my decoys and gun in a backpack, got game every time.
I have a Winchester Model 12 "Heavy Duck" model made for Super-X 3" shells, 30" full choke, that used to be the gun for ducks and geese from the 30's to the early 70's. The one I have has a factory weighted stock to give it more weight to reduce recoil. It's a nice one....
Winchester Model 12. heavy and old school
