I would love to go duck hunting sometime, i have thought about getting my waterfowl stamps, and trying to take some ducks here and there in green swamp as i see lots of black ducks and wood ducks, but worry about proper id of birds and how many i can take of each kind.
30.06 check the fwc website plenty of good info about bag limits and saeson dates. i see several wood ducks in the swamps. ducks unlimited site for duck id or bird books
shake down run was a sccuess motor set up works great go over lily pads no problem. could not find long runs of shalow water but i don't think it will be a problem. max speed around 10 mph
next have to grag out the mother ducker boat and trailer.
Seen a group of about twenty teal last week cruise by my house and landed in the marsh..............they are starting to migrate. Looked like blue wings.
how are you guys finding the taste of the saltwater ducks. I've always found freshwater ones taste better and ducks/geese in generall to be the hardest game to cook well.
nacho libre, i have never hunted ducks in any kind of salt water or brackish so i can not give an opinion on taste. i have shot ducks in the great white north and there is a difference in tatse compared to the ducks that make the flight south. most of the ducks i shot up north are true green head mallards, and most of the ones i shoot in fl are some type of hybrid. we will get a few green heads here. nacho i hunted in wisconsin for a few duck seasons, cold weather and all.
