it's been awhile for me since I duck hunted, shortly after lead was banned and pretty much all there was, was steel and it wasn't very good. what's the latest/greatest now? how do the wardens check the shot for non-tox? back in my day it was with magnets.
I think it is steel shot mostly still, but i could be wrong.
nachoman, nontoxic covers a pretty wide variety wtih shot pellets. bizmuth, tungston, steel, and some other exotic ferrus materials that i don't know about. i have been shooting steel because its cheap. most of my shot shells have the word steel printed on them some where. and every time i get checked the fwc man pulls out a magnet and runs it over the shell. i dont get caught up in specialty shells for hunting of any kind. get on the game make the shot you can make pick up game. thougt it was funny when i saw an ad for water resistant shot shells. if the hull is not cardboard, shotshells are already water resistant.
I had heard that bizmuth and tungston were the best. suppose to hold the pattern better??? do not know from experience, just what a read.
