my almost 9 yr old french brittany bitch tore her left rear cruciate ligament followed by the right about a week later, vet says she is too old and not a good candidate for surgery ( even if we could afford it ) and even with surgery would never be the same & says it is something that will never heal but she will adjust to getting around with what she has. I will not put her down until she is suffering and has no quality of life any more. her brother misses his play time with her .my wife and I have shed many tears over her, anyone have a similar experience and how did your dog make out?
thanks for responding, the tail is still wagging and she still has the hunting spirit, but the only thing she can hunt now is lizards and grasshoppers. the vet says to not let her try to run or jump,easier said than done, we excersize her in the pool and she enjoys it, but her rear leg muscles are starting to atrophy anyway.
