I will admit to having only my fat ass lap dog as a comparison.
Don't feel left out. I got a weiner dog under each arm snoring as I type

:no :no :no That's just not right. LOL
A dog that is worth anything usually looks like a skeleton right now. I swear if someone seen my dogs on the street they'd call the law. They eat premium hi protien feed daily and are wormed and well taken care of. A decent running hound looses wieght and is very hard to maintain. That dog looks fat and healthy to me,that's why I think it's a yard dog. Whatever, it takes a sorry POS to dump a dog in the woods to starve to death.
What pisses me off is all of the dog breeding by guys who don't know what they're doing, then selling sorry pups like they have something. Then after two years the guy finally realizes his dog ain't gonna cut it so he sells it onlineto another sap instead of puting it down.
Yes it does look very healthy and fat for a stray, especially a stray hound that will hunt. All mine look like this now and they're fed half a bowl full everyday. Mine are fed high fat/protein food but they stay in shape for running hounds (a little rib showing)most of the year especially during towards the middle/late part of hunting season. IMO when a running hound's back hip bone isn't showing, it's not too run down or poor. Most average people who don't run hounds think all of the hunting/working dogs are poor. Think about it this way, compare those hounds to long distance/endurance runner's builds; how many overweight long distance runners have you ever seen? lol
I was the demise of one hound several years ago when I let him overheat himself and part of the problem was he was way too fat to be running. He had sat up awhile and was potbellied and died within 20 mins of running. You have got to keep hounds in shape so it doesn't harm them because alot of the dogs we own have so much drive they will literally run themselves to death while out of shape.
