10-4,there is a short hog dog season-new for chaz- wich we are able to bring big dogs and pitbulls,going again fri/sat/sun....i also have a 15'' tall pit cross that i can get in with in alot of places with the 15'' rule.

pitbulls are naturaly human friendly and are a trustworthy dog passing in the high 80-90 percent temperment test.
if 2 dogs(any breed) are trying to bite you,do whatever you need to do to protect yourself wherever you are but if you are greeted by hunting dogs that have responsible owners you will be just fine,just keep doing what you were doing and the dogs will return to what they were doing.
Unfortunately, I was put to the test with some pitbulls in the woods a few weeks ago. First off, I am on land that does not allow the use of hunting dogs.
It started about 8 am, I had a decent 6 point holding up just in the treeline, not giving me a chance for a clean shot, just a step or 2 short of a clear vitals shot. I thought he was coming out when he snapped to attention off to my right. He kept a leary eye that way for about a minute, then just alerted and booked back into where he was coming from. Right then 3 dogs come out from the scrub clump about 30 yards to my right. 2 pits and a mutt mix, the mutt and one pit had collars, the other pit didnt. They start to head across the feild to the treeline where the deer was, when they must have picked up my scent. they start to sniff around,,,,,,,,,,,, essentially looking for and hunting me,,,,,,,,,, growling menacingly the whole time. they tracked to the base of the tree i was in and was just seriously trying to find me,,,,,,,, growling more and more every second. the "lead" pit was really starting to just sniff and growl, looking all around, trying to figure where i was. After about 20 minutes of this,,, i fired 2 shots down at he ground near them,,,,,,,,, taking care not to hit, but be close enough to scare them off. They booked at that point.
Well I stayed on that stand a couple more hours and then climbed down,,,,,,,, I had just finished packing up my climber, getting ready to get it on my back and head out,, when out of that same scrub clump,,,,,, the lead pit comes barreling out with all intent and purpose of having a bite of me for lunch, of that i have no doubt. I had no choice but pull my 45 and i put 6 rounds into it as it came at me before it finally went down. It had a generic tag with just buster on it, no owner info, I loaded it like any game and took to the checkstation and the game warden. I was ready to find out what kind of trouble I was going to be in. Turns out This dog went after one of the volunteers a few days before when they were taking a walk down the road. The game warden told me i should of shot all three when i was in the stand,,,,,,,,,,, to many people are letting there dogs run the WMA's as if its there backyard. Also in a few different wma's they have caught people letting dogs run lose, trying to kick game up in areas they are hunting.
These dogs may not have been "hunting" dogs, but they were hunting me
your story sounds very exagerated and quite frankly it has nothing to do with the question at hand.
