Took this from a guy on another forum. This could help you guys out in the money and for your favorite hunting partners.

This is what I use for fleas and ticks , its used as a topical ,it kills fleas and ticks dead, I pulled several ticks of my labs last season that were stone dead, so here it is

Bayer makes their product for dogs and cats, the vet charges us and arm and a leg for , the active ingredient is Imidacloprid 9.1 percent
Bayer also makes Bayer Advanced Tree & Shrub with active ingredient Imidacloprid 1.47 percent.

I learned this from our hounds men friends in PA, a lab size dog gets 10 ml applied down the back once a month , a cat gets 3 ml the same way.

The stuff from the vet is about $60.00 for three doses, a quart of tree & shrub from Lowe's is $ 21.00 , and it works perfect , been using it for years. the quart lasts my 6 labs for about 2 years

interesting... so my mastiff should get about 17 to 20 ml. see what allan has to say about that chemical, he is a pest control afficianado.

Imidacloprid has been used a very long time in the pest control industry, and it works. I was using it 12+ years ago as a Termiticide. Same active ingredient as Advantage that the vet charges an arm and leg for
