Anyone know how to keep a cur dog from catching? I'm not much into catching hogs just running them. I have a year old gyp that catches like crazy and I would rather she just bayed.

Best luck I have had is to use a rope....in a pen with a hog if ya can....when he goes to catch...pull him away.....it'll take some time, but it works......but my suggestion is....if ya don't want them to catch....then don't use a cur......catching is been bred into them for 100's of years....red curs anyway.
Hounds mostly only catch if they are packed up.....and one gets a little above his rasin'
10-4 on that,my young dogs usually get their butts whipped a few times and learn on their own,this gyp is just real catchy. It's ok though,I just don't normally hunt with catch dogs. I've caught a bunch with my plotts.
