What is the cost on one of those party boats? I have never been on one. I am thinking we ought to have a forum get together on one if we can find one affordable for everyone
This boat was $60 for the 6 hour trip. Party boats that take out a large number of people like that are mostly good for key west grunt and some snapper but the grouper are almost never up to size. There's a boat in Sarasota (Flying Fish) the 6 hour is like $85. And in Bradenton there is the (Miss Cortez) I do not what they get. And I know theres one out of Jhon's pass I think it called (The Florida Sportsman).
My dad knows the guys out of Englewood (at the marina by the beach bridge) pretty well. One of the boats is the Fat Cat, but i can't remember the other. If you have enough people interested (at least 10-12, I think), you can charter them for a good price, considering that they'll go to better spots, use better baits, etc. Dad has taken groups of clients, employees, etc. out and they get some good catches.
I'll see if my dad knows what the cost is for such a trip.
There's also some overnight trips out of John's Pass that go out to the Middle Grounds. It's like 8 hours out, 8 hours fishing, 8 hours back. But they can get into some big grouper, red snapper, huge mangroves, etc.
Something worth looking into. Find out when their slow season is and work out a great deal on a group outing.
Ya that's the 36 hour trip on the Florida Fisherman. It's a blast. I went out on it once and came home with a cooler full of fish. I think the last time I looked it was like $250 to $300 for that trip. I was sore for 4 day's after that trip.
