I've used 100 gr. Spitfire Mechanicals since 1998 and have yet to lose faith in them. Nearly forty ho and deer kills since then and they usually drop within sight! I usually am slinging them tipped onto four hundred grin 3-60 ACC shafts moving about 290fps and I love the way they fly!
For my recurve I'm slinging 125 two blade Zwickeys! Tipped onto a seven hundred grain wooden shaft slung out of my Martin Dream Catcher at fifty pounds....hogs die!
Last week I experimented with two broadheads I had never shot before and was SOLD on them. First up was a Magnus Buzzcut 100 grain and I shot a nice boar hog who made it about 30 yards. Next up was a Boar hog I shot with an Aftershock Maniac 100 and the hog piled up within 25 yards in sight. Next was back to the Magnus and I followed a massive bloodtrail for about 75 yards on a nice boar hog. Back to the Aftershock that went into a big Painted Desert ram who made it about 15 yards before piling up. Loved both of these broadheads for the following reasons.
Magnus was sharp right out of the box and the nice bleeder blades are strong and functional. Lifetime warranty against bending or breaking to boot.
Aftershock gave me the set of broadheads to try and well, they are like a Muzzy on steroids and very sharp out of the box. Very nice chisel point and I purposely hit the ram through the shoulder creating massive bone crushing. The chisel point on these unlike a Muzzy has a cut on contact blade out front, sliced through exiting the hog and my ram.
Heading to Canada next week for a bear hunt and bothof these broadheads are replacing my Slick Tricks and Muzzy broadheads I have used for many, many years.
nice info. i hope to finally release an arrow on somethin this year and see how the rage 2 blades do.
I wanna try my Crimson Talons too, but they don't have practice blades for em, and they are extremely difficult to pull out of my target.
it's been a long time since I bow hunted and preffered mechanicals for deer for safety reasons , seen a few people overdraw with a fixed blade and get a nasty slice on the finger.I'm sure theyve come a long way in 7-8 years, was just wondering if a mech can penetrate a big hogs shoulder plate with 55-60 lb pull, and I'd prefer a complete pass thru for max blood trail.
