Totally agree with no crossbows. Think about it. Next thing we'll have to start wearing blaze during archery, which totally blows the turkey bird options. And if no blaze, the nutcases are gonna come out of the woodwork and we'll be dodgin bolts in the woods. And that doesn't even get to Skunk Ape's point about seein more people than game on WMAs anymore.
WOW,,, talking about a heated discussion !!! im affraid to buy one now lol !!! well this is where i stand,,, im a bow hunter and thats my passion,,,BUT i recently applied for a disabled permit due to a old shoulder injury due to a cycle accident so i can use a crossbow at times,,, not supposed to be pulling a bow back but hard to part with my bows !!! i was thinking a crossbow would be better at times to walk & stalk pigs in a heavy cover but in my climber or for deer i got my Mathews z7 !!! Florida does have alot of issues and its more about the revenue then quaility management !!! crossbows have thier dis-advantages too,,, i know i can re-nock an arrow with my bow faster than trying to cock a crossbow !!! i dont hate i just enjoy being in the woods and its alot better to have game to pull the trigger on as well,,, i cut back on hunting during rifle season due to the over crowding but i guess im one of the ones that are in the crowd,,,happy hunting !!! Mark
I strongly agree with Iluv2hunt about the state opening up more land especially the swfmd and other water management district lands that are just sitting there unused. There are tens of thousands of acres here in Pasco county alone that is owned by SWFMD that cannot be hunted except for a couple hog dog hunts twice a year. In my opinion open up these lands to hunt and you would help alleviate the overcrowding in your central florida WMA's like Chass. and Green swamp.
Back to the topic, I believe there is a crossbow season in FL starts day after archery and ends day before muzzleloader. I know that most WMA's dont recognize it but they should. This way more people can hit the woods and it would not impact our current bow season. They should put another $5 permit on it so they can make their money without screwing up bow season. However I do not disagree with a disabled person using a crossbow during archery if they have the permit.

I totally agree with that,Croom is another that allows no bow hunting which pisses me off.No reason for that at all.Plenty of game in there, lots are being run over by cars.I also believe we need more youth hunts or at least a statewide youth hunt for a certain weekend.
I think that we all agree that the FWC needs HUNTERS, not beurocrats and lobbyists, making the decisions on how to run hunting in this state
