Here is what can happen when you dry fire. In the link is a youtube video of a guy shooting a crossbow w/o an arrow in it. I witnessed a bow get dry fired and it did the same thing

During the years I had my shop I saw several dry fires with bows and the only bow that did not break was the high country carbon bow.To dry fire any bow can be very bad for the shooter and the bow itself.The bows at my shop were locked and ppl had to ask to handle them.
