I don't see the big deal.. It's your hunt... enjoy it.
You should be able to shoot just the same with todays compound bows as you can with a crossgun... if not... maybe you should stick to the crossgun and leave the real bows to those who can

Yeah I'm not really all that good with a bow... 4 this past archery season and I'm averaging over 3 per archery season since I started many years ago. I'm pretty sure I'm a decent archery shot and it irks me when someone calls out someone else for moving to a more effective technology.

I do agree though that todays compounds aren't much different at all. That's why I don't get why anyone is disrespected for using one. As long as I can gain 20 yds of killing distance I'm all in for that!

I"m hoping I can use my .270 rifle during muzzleloading season. As long as it gets more hunters in the woods is all that matters, right? My problem is I hurt my wrist when I was a kid and I can't push the ramrod down the barrel, loading my .270 is much easier.

LMAO SA!!!! I have a nice crossbow set up myself. I've only carried it in the woods a few times and still haven't gotten anything with it. I'm an ok shot with the bow but with the crossbow I'm whacking quarter's at 40 yds with a rest. I'm definitely more accurate with the xbow. That being said I'll bring it during bow season but most likely will only use my compound. If I can get something early with the bow then I'll try to get some blood on a bolt. As far as my shooting goes the xbow is a distinct advantage over the bow and does extend my reach a ways.

My biggest fear is that people think they can whack a deer or hog at 60+ yards with them. They are going to go to Dick"s or wally mart and buy these package xbows and go hunting. They are not any more accurate, powerful, or can you shoot much further with them than you can a modern compound. They still take a lot of practice and some tuning to get them set up. Gonna see a lot of gimped up deer.
For me, I am a hunter. I bow hunt, ml hunt, gun hunt, turkey hunt, small game hunt. If they had a rock chunkin hunt I'd do that too. Die hard bow hunters are always gonna hate xbows...thats just the way it is
