Does anyone have any experience shipping a muzzleloader? Who have you used (UPS, USPS, etc.), approx. cost, and any precautions you have to take?

Any advice is appreciated.

I believe it must be shipped to an FFL just like anyother firearm...

No FFL needed. I've bought several from reputable vendors and they seem to always use Fedex for whatever reason. They drop the box off right my door.

In most states you can ship a long gun "rifle, shotgun or muzzy" WITHIN that state, person to person, or from a Company within that state to an individual without using an FFL. Maybe a Muzzy is different and a dealer can ship it right to you from out of state, not suer about that. I do know a dealer from out of state must ship a rifle, shotgun and handgun to an FFL in your state to do a transfer or sale as must anyone shipping a rifle, shotgun and handgun out of state. An FFL is required once your cross a state line for a "rifle, shotgun or handgun". Pistols and revolvers always require an FFL to ship, in state or out of state.
