i have a cva wolf, sighted in at 50 yds. i have a weaver 3x for a scope on it, and have 1" groups at 50 yds using 100 grains 777 and 295 gr hollow point power belts. I put the scope on after realizingmy rear fiber optic sight was loose. took fiber optics off.

Thanks for the input. Got my first muzzleloader hunt the 28th of this month. Sighted my fiber optics in at 50yds. Think I will try hunting withou a scope before I decide to buy one.

Is a 3x9x40 too much scope. What is everyone using?

I just got home with a new CVA Optima today. SS with camo thumbhole stock and it came with a 3x9x40 out of the box. I've got a 3x9x32 on my other smokepole.

leupold makes a couple heavy duty scopes designed for close range, paralax free at 75 yds and built to take the recoil of muzzleloaders and shotguns. 1 is a 1x4 power and the other a 2x7. I like them with the heavy duplex reticle (thicker easier to see crosshairs). I have the 1x4 on my rifled slug bbl and 2x7 on the mzl, I like em both, either would work good.

I have the Cabelas Pine Ridge 2.5-7x32 Scope. I haven't had any issues with it. It's inexpensive and works great.
