AWESOME i love my cva. was at the range this week and shot 1" groups with the scope i just put on. i have found that i need a little routine to shoot it, cleaning between every shot, and using hodgdon777 pellets and 295 gr powerbelt hollow points. I am looking forward to wma ml hunting.
I've never shot the Triple 7 pellets. I use the Pyrodex 50gr pellets and I've never had to clean between shots. When I get to my camp I shoot once or twice to site it in after boresighting my scope and then take it to the stand. Never had an issue. I usually clean it when I get home. Cleaning after every shot is a lot of work!
I clean after every shot. reason being is I am anal about hunting with my m/l's when they are 100% clean. Both of mine will shoot much differently on a clean barrel vs. a fouled barrrel. Actually shoot much higher
awsome i too being super new to hunting(GREEN ) last year said only general gun. got a ML from my step dad(trying to learn all i can from the man) and loved it.
Oh man. Thats cool. Eventually I will get one. I almost broke down a few months back when that muzzleloader was listed on classified on this forum.
That scope seems awful high. If you are having to raise your face up to see thru it naturally, you may want to take the back iron sight off and go with lower mounts

is that scope so high cuz you got see thru rings? to each his own, I'll zip my lip for a change. pyrodex however (what I've been using) has been giving me good accuracy in pellet form 100 grs (2x50) but is probly about the dirtiest burning pellet you can find. I've just been too lazy to try anything else. and the box of 100 count will save you some $. I found those and the TC 240 gr xtp bullets/sabots 30 to a box at walyworld if interested.
