was wondering if any of you guys do this and if so for how long. if after a day of hunting and getting no shot do you just take the primer cap off and leave it charged for the next time. it's said to be safe but just don't forget it's already loaded and load it again. also do you tape over the muzzle to keep moisture/rain out, I've heard it's good for rain/debris but should remove it at camp so no condensation can form.
Not a muzzy hunter (yet) but why don't you just discharge it to be safe? How much does a black powder round cost?
I'm not a ML hunter yet, but I like a small tab of electrical tape on the end of the barrel of my hunting rifles.
Keeps crud out.

it's not so much the cost but noise spooking game, a shot fired after dark attracting unwanted suspicions and having to clean the gun again after only 1 shot.
If I hunt the next day, I just take the primer out. If I'm done for the weekend, I take the breech plug out and push the bullet and powder out the breech end. Makes for super easy cleaning.
Instead of taping the muzzle, I'll use a finger cot. You know, one of those condom looking things for your finger. It keeps rain out and you can shoot right through it without any worries. They even come in different colors.
I usually leave my gun in the truck or take it inside, so I don't have to worry about moisture overnight.
