Ok how on the hell do you clean this finish on my ml? It gets stains sometimes and regular oil and cleaners don't clean it. I'm told there's a cleaner for the coating on my ml.

Is it nickle plating, or stainless?

It's dull. So I think nickel. Not sure. It's a Cva optima.

It's probably stainless, with a matte finish

nickel is a good hard finish, but too expensive for normal production guns. it looks like you have 2 different finishes there. the matte stainless is that way on purpose. a stainless metal polish will clean it but it's never gonna be bright and shiny unless you have it totally re-polished and buffed out. the lower/darker I can't tell whether it's blued, powder coated or what. is that where your having the problem, or on the stainless. I just picked up 2 used sigs, an alloy nickel plated 220 and a stainless nickel plated 239 in 40 cal. the previous owner was obviously into nickel and must have spent some serious coin getting them plated. imo nickel plating stainless is a little overkill, but i'm not complaining.
