Mine stays loaded till the end of the season. When I come out I'll remove the primer. I also use the cots if it looks like it might rain.
Do they sell magnum finger cots for shotguns?
HAHAHAHAHAHA.. just read this thread.. too dam funny!!
If I'm hunting every day I will leave it loaded, when I'm done for the season I unload. I do take the primer out every day though.
Same here. I don't use any fancy gun condoms or anything if it rains. The 209 primer hasn't let me down yet and I've been through several rains in the stand.
I know i probably shouldn't but i have left mine loaded during the early season ML hunt threw to the late seaon hunt and it shot fine. I think as long as you don't let it get drenched and are shooting 409 primers you'll be fine.
One year I hunted a 3 day quota in the rain. I mean miserable. Fri and Sat it rained all day. One of those where its about 40deg, and drizzling all day. Cold, wet, and miserable. Then Sunday it was such a heavy fog and dew you could call it rain. I literally poured water out of the breach several times. Shot it on Sunday leaving the woods and it was like firing a 270. never missed a beat
