I was on a quota hunt last year and got rained on pretty good. I pulled the 777 and replaced it but left the primer in cause " I'm sure it's fine". Next morning pulled the trigger on a doe and heard "pop". Sounded like one of those wadded up firecrackers you throw on the ground. I held the shot for about 15 seconds and nothing. By the time I got another primer in I didn't have a clean shot and went home empty handed. I learned 2 things that day. 1- Don't leave your pack with your extra loads sitting on the ground tied to your climber and 2- If you think they may have gotten wet then completely reload just in case.

the wad should seal the bbl watertight. I worry more for condensation. even if the powder is a little damp a 209 primer is pretty dam hot and should ignite it. if theres a misfire I'd bet it's the primers fault.

You can leave them loaded for the season, if your hunting a lot. I don't put anything over the end never had any problems. I have hunted in some real downpours too. With newer modern inlines, the sabots or powerbelts make a pretty good seal. Before I sold my Knight TK2000 it was loaded at the start of turkey season, and not unloaded till I squeezed the trigger or season closed.

If I'm hunting every day I will leave it loaded, when I'm done for the season I unload. I do take the primer out every day though.

Just what he said.
Only change it if its raining. Dont fire it just push it out.

I leave mine loaded all muzzloader season, and remove primer after every hunt. Sometimes I tape over barrel and primer chamber on my knight disc rifle. Never had a missfire.
