the finger cots do make good 50th birthday gag gift presents. I've got a bunch but they slip off, or rip apart a lot (the gun bbl that is) for those of us with thin diam barrels.

If I'm hunting every day I will leave it loaded,when I'm done for the season I unload. I do take the primer out every day though.

An uncapped/un primed m/l is considered unloaded. I just un cap mine at night, and leave it in truck. I use the finger cots also
