I need some help with my powder? How long does it last Blackhorn 209? Is it time and temp? then if its bad how do I know? Thanks I hate to damage my gun.
It should last a pretty long time if it's in it's original container. I've read that's one of the more stable of the substitutes as far as not collecting moisture from sitting around. I'd wager you should be good for several seasons, AT LEAST.
On the other hand, I'm still shooting some blackpowder that's been in the family from the mid-80's with no problem.
As far as I Know it will last years and years in a dry environment. I have used powder that I know was 10+ years old that shot fine. But regardless, even if its bad, it wont hurt your gun. Worse case is it may hurt your pride with a hang fire on a nice buck.
Thank you I had a feeling that lasted a long time. As long as it was in the original container I remember reading about that. Well then I'm off to the range. :chain
