Put the 1st 'scope on a Lyman Plains Rifle (a Kit gun) back in the early '80s. Back then it was just something to be different, now it is a necessity as my eyes are 30 years older and focusing on iron sights is difficult at best. The issue of an in line is usually more hunting time on the calendar, and most "true traditionalists" will hunt with the side locks/flint locks and iron sights when they could be using a modern firearm with a 'scope. My hat's is off to either side, but for me I need to see what I'm trying to kill.
