Doug go to was mart and get a can of non chlorinated brake cleaner. It same exact same thing as gun scrubber, at 1/3 price. Use the straw and blast the crap out of it. Be careful it will eat your hands up. That's way I clean my breech plugs. Works great

Looks like I am going to be able to go this weekend, if nothing else changes between now and then. I plan on leaving Thursday night when the misses gets home from work. That way I can bow hunt the WMA on Friday(last chance of the year for me to shoot a nanny), then go to the gun range in Mayo to check scopes, and put in some serious tree stand time over the weekend. I plan on staying till after the morning hunt Monday

You should try a CO2 load discharger. Just blast a little Co2 into the breech and it should unplug it. If it has enough pressure to push out a fouled shot, then it should push out the breech fouling with no problem. I know Cabelas sells them because I have one from them. I used mine Saturday after a miss fire in one of my side locks. The powder got wet because I didn't dry the barrel good enough after a clean. I went on the Bass Pro site and didn't see anything like that but I'm sure they would sell them.

Thanks for the heads up guys. I'll give it a shot. I found a Traditions breech plug at BPS today that looked identical but they couldn't guarantee that it was the right one and I didn't bring mine to check it out. So I bought a new Optima instead. :rolleyes I'll mess with the other one when I get back. If this rain lets up I'm gonna try to hit the range tomorrow to dial in the new one and check the .270.
