Hornady Great Plains 385 grain Hollow Point, really smokes deer, never tried one on a hog....dunno how the hollowpoint would do. I shoot a 13-15 year old Traditions "Deer Hunter" .50 cal with percussion cap. First gun I bought for myself. $99. Shoots good.

I shot may dad's deer hunter ML for several years and killed deer with it. He killed several on the wall with it in Ga. I would probably still be shooting it today if I could mount a scope on it and shoot 209 caps through it. Great gun, accurate and like you said, with a HP bullet it will smoke them.
