anyone know anything about these Jim Shockeys powder sticks? is this just another term for powder pellet? used them? pellets are definately easier, but would like to try a cleaner burning propellant.

Never used them nor knew anyone that has used them but I do not like the way they are packaged. They come in a bottle. The sticks of powder float all around in there and easily chip, giving me the impression of inaccuracy. Who cares if they are clean burning if you cant shoot consistiently with them. I also dont like the shape they come in....I like round. Simply because the barrel is round....makes more sense to me. Don't know if it has any affect on accuracy but just doesnt seem right. But what do I know, Shockey shoots them and he's knocked down some serious animals with them...at extreme distances none-the-less. I shoot lowley pyrodex. LOL

I shoot 777 pellets now and before that the pyrodex pellets. I liked both and consistently kill bucks w/ both. I would still be shooting pyrodex if it wouldn't leave so much residue.

If you want clean, try the BH 209. It only comes in loose powder, though. There was a guy next to me at the range last year shooting that stuff, and honestly I did not know he was shooting a BP gun until I looked over and saw him muzzle stuffing it. There is zero smoke, and he never swabbed the barrel

thats all i use and will as long as i can get it the stuff is great!! pricey at crooks r us i mean bass pro, but i have a friend get it from cabellas for me when he comes to visit he brings it for me.

I would try it if they made it in 50 or 75 grain pellet form but where I hunt I need to reload fast.

I'd like to stick with pellets, maybe I'll try trip 7 when I use up the pyro
