Me and some friends used to camp out there and hunt in small game. Hogs used to be legal in SG season, not sure if they still are or not.
Down along the marsh there are a pile of small hardwood islands. They vary in size from small to several acres. we used to put a couple shooters on one side and send in a couple drivers and we killed a bunch of hogs doing that. That is where I walked up on an old sow gator tending a nest of eggs. Don't know if Jesus actually walked on water or not, but I sure did at that moment
So did we. One time my buddys stopped to get some firewood on LSMA and the feds busted them. Threatened to take them to jail,impound their vehicles and take their guns. Just for taking wood out of a pushed pile. They talked there way out of it but recieved a letter from the agnt a few months later saying he almost lost his job ans was demoted for not following thru with it.
Yep they got me for having a loaded gun on a road way. I walked out of the woods up to my truck and he stepped out of the bushes and asked to check my gun. Threatened to take me to jail right there. I was only like 18-19 at the time and he practically had me in tears. He finally let me go and made a smartazz comment that I needed to learn resposibility and needed to learn to follow directions. :bigfinger
I couldn't imagine getting busted camping out in the woods. They might could have give us the death penalty.

I phrased it wrong...we camped at the campground down by cedar key. not in the woods.
