I've got a knight disc rifle with 209 primers, had it for years and have never gotten around to hunting with it,I use the 50 grain pyrodex pellets, and was wondering do i realy need 3- pellets 150 grains for deer out to 100 yds? will 150 grs help accuracy,or am I just wasting powder/money? thanks

I have tried both 100 and 150.
I have settled on 100. I actually lost accuracy with 150. It is not needed for Florida 100yd or less shots.
If you were constantly shooting 200+ I would recommend it

BP guns are the most sensitive guns in the world when it comes to powder charges and bullets. I would try different combo's and see what your gun likes. When you find that combo, stick with it
I switched bullets for this year so I have to start all over with 2 guns :bored:

i literly just got back from the range, there is no need for anything over 100. gr. my personal loads for my gun is 45cal 300gr. hornaday xtp. in a 50cal. harvester crush rib sabot with 90gr. of blackhorn 209 powder (i shoot loose only no pelets) with a federal 209m primer. i will post a few pics. of my groups my gun loves this load. i have a friend who shoots pellets and only shoots 1 50gr. and one. 25gr. for a 75gr load with a 250 gr. bullet and has never tracked a deer further than 50 yards and that was shooter eror on a running shot. all other were either bang flop or went maybe 20-25 yards, i shoot the hevier bullet cause i hunt in thick stuff and rarely have to shoot over 50 yards. my groups were a little bigger at 80gr. got alot tighter at 90gr. so i stayed there also blackhorn is a hotter powder than say trip seven trip severm max is 150 gr. black horn max is 120gr. so my 90 is like shootin 110 of trip seven. glad to see guys talkin blackpowder in here i'm wonderin if i'm even gonna hunt with my other guns this season.
