I'm not to worried about animals much but you never know when you'll slip up on a meth lab, pot garden, Ect. Not everyone is in the woods to hunt, Some hide bodies there.
Well back in the 70's i had a 180lb Bear chase me up a tree after i shot and wounded him my hunting buddy shot him befor he got to me, I shot him twice with a 22 mag derrenger in the skull he just shook it off ...the one that worried me as much maybe even more was a Hugh Racoon at Ft. Desota park camp ground got into my tent while camping and was cornered we vacated the tent and he tore it up real good, he must have been 80 pounds and was all scared up from fighting...There you aren't allowed to harm them even if they attack WOW What a night, the Gal i was with slept in the car for the next 3 nights
not lookin to start trouble but gotta ask why would you shoot a bear with a 22? your'e lucky he didn't maul your azz. you musta been a lot younger/faster/thinner in the 70's, I know I was. I even had hair.
you know people and movies fill us "YANKS" full of horror stories of 500 lb big tusked boars killing dogs and charging/killing hunters LOL. I was walking practically shoulder to shoulder with a guy showing me some property when he stepped on a hog, guess that hog never heard how vicious they were. I think it was more scared than us, if possible.
We've blinded a few sows at night with the headlights and jumped out and grabbed them while trying to tie them up or knife them. We've caught two smaller sows but nothing over 100 lbs yet. This past year I walked up to a 150lb boar and was over him shining the light in his eyes while he was bedded down before he jumped up and ran off. I started to kick him but decided he might attack. My great grandparents had hogs on their farm and while I was younger we would harass those poor hogs and I lost all fear of them.
Why do they tell y'all such horror stories up there? To keep y'all out of the woods I would think lol. I would think any of the larger predators up north would cause more damage than a hog anyday, well, besides a giant boar.
I worked on a pig farm and you are wrong wrong wrong...
While 90% of hogs will run away, the ones that don't will chase you down , kill you, and eat you!
