I use poppers and worm flies. I also have crawfish flies, but I've never got one on them...
I've caught a few bass with flies up to a pound on poppers, but the biggest I ever caught with flyrod was almost 3 pounds, and he hit a white foam spider I was laying over some shellcracker beds. I've caught more panfish on the little foam spiders than any other fly, everything from brim to warmouth perch. Had a northern pike on one morning fishing the cattails around the boat launch on Ocean Pod with a small popper. He must have been over 2 pounds, and was probably the hardest fight I ever had on a flyrod. I got him almost to the net when the little hook broke. Cheap KMart flies!
I still have my flyrod and reel, but haven't used them in probably 20 years or more. Never tried saltwater flyfishing, but I wouldn't turn down a chance to try it out.
I havent flyfished a in few years but i have a nice St. Croix flyrod. Ive only caught some trout out in California and some panfish here with it
