No live baits and we'll be fishing in the late afternoon. Does color matter?

For me, the most successful lure for large number of bass is the Origional floating Rapala in gold/black color. Last year I caught 49 bass in 3 hours using this lure. Most were small size bass of about 12" but 3 were more than 3 pounds and 2 were more than 4 pounds.

For large bass I've had the most success using LARGE black or purple plastic worm fished on the surface. I have some 16" floating worms that I rig with 10/0 size hook and fish it close to the shore in shallow weedy area early moring or in the afternoon... like water snake. You won't catch many bass under 4 pounds using this rig but large bass will go for it. My second largest bass ever was caught with this worm and it was just hair under 11 pounds.
