My buddy has been jaw jackin on how he can school me in bass fishing… yada yada…. So it looks like we’re going to settle this on Saturday afternoon… I’m familiar with using worms and stuff, but what’s your go to lure…. I really want to shut him up or atleast have bragging rights for a while.... This lake is a natural spring fed in the back end of a sub division and it looks like it gets down to around 40+ feet. I’m not sure how much pressure it gets, but I don’t think it gets fished very much… So what’s your opinion? So far I plan on using watermelon or pumpkin colored worms…

If you ask the "experts" they will tell you it depends on light, weather, structure, weed cover, bug spawn, etc...
I say you can't go wrong with a Mepps.

So you have to use artificial for your bassoff? No live bait?

The water temps aren't hot enough yet to make them go that deep. i would look for ledges that taper off with any type of cover, and run crank baits and rattle traps parallel to the ledge

Fishing from the bank or a boat? First thing in the morning, topwater - Hula Poppers, Jitterbugs, etc. Then maybe use spinner baits fished shallow over grass, or let them drop near ledges and work them like a jig. Once it warms up a bit, do like Iluv2hunt said with the cranks and ratltraps.
