I am moving to the Winter Haven area later this summer from the frozen north of Maine. I do some bass fishing here in Maine but it doesn't appear to be anywhere near as good as Florida. Does anyone have any knowledge of the lakes in the Winter Haven area. I am not too far from Lake Howard and I understand there is a canal system linking several lakes in the area.
Any info on the area would be appreciated.
It's been many years since I ran around that area. If I remember right there are a lot of lakes that are with in a short drive.
Lots of lakes, lots of fish. You can go from Howard into Lake May into Lake Shipp into Lake Lulu into Lake Eloise (Where Cypress Gardens used to be) into Lake Winterset into... I think that's it! There must be 50 lakes within 20 minutes of the Lake Howard area, and they'll all have bass in them. You won't have any trouble FINDING a place to fish, just DECIDING where to fish.
