Ive driven around Grove Park and it looks good. Its right next to Lochloosa where I hunt. Its an active tree farm too FYI, they are always cutting in there. Im pretty sure hellbilly has Ft. McCoy
Regs say that the unrenewed ones go up for grabs on June 4th. Grove park would be my 1st choice from looking at the maps. 1st come 1st serve on the permits. I read somewhere that they were covered up with people that have been there a while and didn't take kindly to new guys. I'd hate to have to get into a pissin match with someone just so I could hunt. I'm not into the drama that comes with that stuff.

I am going out on a limb here but have any of you thought about a site lease with the members here.I did it here got some friends together and said what money can u come up with cause I know a farmer that owns 900 acres and he leases 1500 more and he would lease out hunting rights.We leased the land until he died and his son took over then the son went with bunch of other friends of his but anyways to the point.The old man leased the land for hunting fishing whatever to just us for 2500 per year,yes cheap but you get my point.
From experiance rec permit wmas or worse than open wmas.I got Ft McCoy this season and yep you guessed it,people have had it sowed up for years and with bad econmy some spots opened up and I got in.Well the folks there have been running the place for many years and act and think it is there private hunt club.Ive had several problems with people there Im looking for a hunt club now I do not wont to renew my permit I have friends at Grove park they say its the same but maybe not as bad as Ft McCoy.Never did find a friendly person there.New guys were having there stands stolen or busted up.whole blocks of woods flaged every 50ft.people blocking roads,honkin horn and yelling when they came up on your truck,and on and on.Had a spot that was lookin pretty good then one day stated seeing nothing then the smell started,they started piling dead deer around my stand.just a bunch of :ahole .I will only renew at last option if I cant find a hunt club or change to grove park and give it a shot
