Yep, and fox squirrel range from pure black to almost white and every shade of brown and gray in between. There are so many on one WMA I hunt that they far outnumber the gray squirrels. At some point, they're gonna have to open up season on em again, even with strict limits.

I've "heard" they are pretty tasty, but I've "heard" that you gotta try to get the younger ones. The older ones are supposed to be a bit tough eatin.

Or did you "hear" that they make that THUD sound? I heard that it doesn't take much more than a PBA pellet from an air gun to nick one out of a tree.

i have seen shermans fox squirrels before and this critter was bigger than what i would consider a squirrel more of a skunk size animal.
