By the way I know at least 10 friends who applied, and did not get drawn. It sucks, but until there is a better solution this is how it is going to be.

Sorry, but a WMA stamp has nothing to do with being allowed to camp.

I have to disagree with the statement. Have you try applying for a camping permit without a valid WMA stamp?

Also, the problem was not the campers or tents or other type of equipment left behind the whole season. The problem was a system that did not provide for short term camping. Once you get a quota for the whole season, the site is yours to use it the way it pleases you. Unfair, yes, but is the way the system work. It is not the fault of us with campers.

Again, I think the system is better now. We should not blame people for using the sites as designed by the system.

I think that is the point right there. Do not hate the user, hate the system. You could only do what you are allowed. I am just glad to see that they are atleast trying and listening to the people who have legitimate concerns.

+2 Mr. Lolo... Some of the problems on the sites being left unused was that the tree huggers were getting sites so hunters couldn't now that was a proven fact... I just feel that more sites should be available for the draw, I don't think that 1/2 the sites will be filled by the weekenders... When I get a site it is usually big enough for more then my camper alone, so i let others that have a tent use some of the space.. also that guy from seminole that says he has as far as me ,, how many times a year do you go hunting... the outdoors is for everyone, as i said i am up there 4 or 5 days a week , I take my wife who doesn't hunt but enjoys the camping, and i take a different one of my grandkids each time i go there . a fair system is what we need, but it probably won't be far for everyone.. someone will feel like they got screwed, no matter which system it is.... lets all just enjoy Hunting Season....

my opinion is every taxpayer, hunter or not should have the same rights to use state land as they see fit within the law. leaving your stuff on a site alone 3-4 days a week, for weeks/months imo is not fair to someone who got denied to camp at all, and an invitation to get vandalized or ripped off. when young we slept in the open maybe a tarp then went to tents, pop up, airstream, then when older we had limited time and more money it was just easier/cheaper to share a motel with a lot less to pack, haul set up/breakdown and were a lot less tired while hunting from not doing camp chores. camping is great but camping/fishing and hunting all in one trip is a lot of work and not much time to rest relax and enjoy for just a couple of days. now if your gonna spend a week or 2 there it's another story.
