The rain from last night washed all the tracks out in the area I was hunting which was cool cause I saw a whole lot of fresh ones. Most oaks in the open looked like alot of deer were muncin those acorns.I jumped a doe there last week (not even time to put on the release.) and looks like I'll spend most of this year around there.
I saw single sets of hog prints but still havent found any heavily rooted areas .
Gave it three hours with my camo ponch which will be the last time. Got soaked, need rainsuit.

when it gets a little cooler, just wear wool. you will still be wet but warm and quiet. I sweat so much in raingear I'm just as wet as if I had nothing. maybe wool and a light windbreaker. I'm becoming a lot more fond of tree umbrellas since moving here, if not for rain then sun/concealment too.

Get a set of Frogg Togg's. You can get a camo set for <$50. Its a pretty neat material as it is breathable so you don't sweat to death

what the fisherman used by us were healy-hansen bibs and jacket but they didn't breath and weren't camo, but worked fairly well but were a bit noisy. I splurged for some cabelas mt-50 once and they breathed and were camo and quiet but water always seems to find a way in (wrists/collar) and if moving I seem to create steam and vapor that will fog up any optic. cotton may be light and cool/comfotrtable but just holds sweat and water next to your body like a sponge, Egyption waxed cotton is another story and I like that stuff ( barbour/cc filson) . that poly dri-wick camo from W-W works pretty good. at some point either walking thru a tall wet field, standing water or sweating youre gonna be wet from the inside or outside. just need to find a system that lets the moisture wick away from your skin. in extreme cold that will kill you. I was hunting up north once wearing a barbour jacket and hat, weather was cold/dry and the sweat vapor I created from walking up the ridge that wicked to the outside froze so my jacket and hat were covered in ice, but was warm and dry underneath. gotta say the coldest I've ever been hunting was down here a couple years ago at citrus with a steady light rain /wind and mid to low 40's with the wrong clothes on.
