so , anyone that can help on this one feel free to pm or email me. been hunting for 4 years now, always went with my exwifes dad, worst guide possible. ive learned more reading blogs and talking to checkin station people. always hunt in chasshowitzka, 30 mins from my house. always see lots of skat, tracks, hog rooting in the dirt. never actually seen any game. never once had an opportunity to shoot!! want to shoot a hog so bad i can taste it. someone, anyone, please help!! dont mind going with someone if you need a hunting buddy, just some advice is fine too. would love a buck too, but hogs are what im wanting to pop my cherry with.
well heres the deal.. YOu have to go there alot and scout the same spots.. You will see the deer crap here and there.. and the hog crap here and there.. But they travel to that area through little trails. Most of the time they use the same trail to get into a big area and just make sighn all over.. But the key is finding out what trail they are coming in from. Than your on to something.. You can see tons of sign in a field.. but you have to know how they are accessing the field. Cause you can see them in any part of that field at anytime.. But most of the time they will allways be AT THE SAME spot COMING INTO THE FIELD! Then the next thing is to find out what times they are doing it.. Most of the time its early morning between 4-6am or at night. then you put your stand or sit there and wait for them to walk the entrance trail and its game on!

Here is the problem with hunting wild hogs.
THEY GET SPOOKED UP FROM HUNTING PRESSURE MUCH FASTER THAN DEER DO.
After the first couple weeks of season they know the hunters are there and will lay up and feed at night. It is my understanding they run dogs in there too. Its not that you are doing something wrong, per se, it is just the fact that the hogs are laid up and not moving. Hogs will also bed up in some of the thickest, nastiest spots imaginable. They get tunnels under the growth, so travel is easy for them, where a deer sometimes cannot even get thru. Your best bet this time of year is to search google earth and try to find some areas that may be travel areas (like a funnel where one type of woods meets another type) and sit tight on one of those spots. The key to public land is let other hunters (or dogs) work to your advantage. If you sit a travel corridor maybe a hunter or a dog will push one by you
