I must of read that brochure 2 or 3 times and I completely missed the fact archery is Friday thru Sunday only. Even though its right at the beginning of the archery section.

Yeah I have alot of weekdays off and it sucks not being able to hunt the same area but I just drive a few more miles up to richloam open all week but can't shoot does.
I am glad this came up I wasn't aware of the new proceedure, if there is I totally don't understand it,, So the only drawing is for the 39 sites, or can i just be there early on opening day of the quota hunt and put my camper up there for the season??? Mr. Lobo do you understand the new proceedure???? I just am confussed HELP HELP

This will be my 1st time out there, not sure how it used to work but based upon what I read, it appears atleast 1/2 of the camping sites +/- 39 at each location will be drawn for, the rest 1st come, 1st serve. They will have a drawing for each distinct hunting season as well, dates as follows:
Camping permits are issued by random draw (see worksheets for additional instructions and information). Application periods are: August 3-15, 2011 (archery); September 27 – October 10, 2011 (general gun); November 17-27, 2011 (small game, State Road 471 campground only); November 17-27, 2011 (wild hog-dog, Rock Ridge campground only); January 19-30, 2012 (spring turkey); and March 921, 2012 (fishing and frogging, Rock Ridge campground only).
Perhaps they are wanting more turnover of the campsites. Good for some, I am sure bad for others.

I'm trying to figure it out. From what I read, the random drawing is only for 39 sites. I heard last year that there were talks of having some spaces to be issued by the check station guy, but I'm not sure if that going to be the process. My guess is that they are doing this as a lot of sites are empty most of he time, and people going there for a few days are unable to camp. I'm guessing they will issue the rest for short term camping first come first served. I'll be submitting for drawing as I normally do and see what happens.
