If there is a will there is a way What is maple oatmeal? and the purpose? I smoke alot of meat and am always trying to learn.
I used a couple of those little packets of breakfast oatmeal you buy. It was Quaker Maple and Brown Sugar oatmeal. Here is the box:
Purpose, not quite sure, it was an experiment, but I was out of brown sugar, which I like to use in my rubs for making pork, and I figured the oatmeal would get sticky, tack up, and help create a good glaze over the outside, especially when I basted it with the Sweet Baby Rays Hickory and Brown Sugar BBQ sauce....figured if it came out horrible, I'd just drink a few more beers.....ended up being pretty good and made for one hell of a flavorful crispy outside. :toast

I haven't been able to hunt her in a bit. School has had me by the balls lately. She ran fine last time we were up in Madison, but it was just so dry, working a scent trail is a tough job for the best dogs. Really dying to run her.
