Been wanting some jerky, and don't want to use up my $89.99/pound venison just yet.

I ran into Publix to grab something and saw these top round steaks on sale(I say on sale loosely, as meat prices are stupid )
Anyway, I sliced them real thin, and into my vacuum seal marinade container. Trying a little different flavor this time...Teriyaki, Caribbean Jerk, Srirachi hot sauce, pineapple juice

I may wait till tomorrow morning to put them on dehydrator, as its already afternoon now...

I've been thinking about doing this too. Let me know how it turns out. All my expensive venison is gone a long time ago so I'll need to start with some kind of jerky up in the stand other than the super expensive store bought stuff.

Keep an eye on Sweetbay ads. They put their London Broil on sale quite often, which is pretty lean and would probably be good jerky. It's sometimes cheaper than ground beef!

I refuse to buy packaged jerky. Way too expensive for my wallet. I have done it many times in the dehydrator and have it perfected. I am interested to see how this recipe is gonna be.

My typical recipe is:
Worchestershire sauce
Teriyaki sauce
Liquid smoke
Soy sauce
Fresh ground pepper
red pepper

This should be a little sweeter flavor

My recipe is pretty basic:

Teryaki Sauce
Lots of Fresh Ground Pepper

I normally cut my strips in pieces about 3/4 inch thick because I like mine a little tender. I soak in the teriyaki overnight and then pat it dry and pepper it before putting it in the dehydrator. Takes about 16-18hrs to dry right. Most of it's normally gone in a couple of days... Good stuff.
