So true..LOL, said he got the strangest look when he left to meet me in Aucilla the other morning decked out in camo carrying a shotgun to the truck, from a couple going to play racquetball at the air conditioned indoor court 🙂

Santeria. Lol

No... just old school! LoL...

My grandparents also owned a rooster fighting ring. I know that a lot of people don't agree with that, but that's normal in spanish culture. I remember as a kid the fights were held on Saturdays. The losing rooster would go straight to the kitchen and be butchered. During the week week my grandfather and I would go up to the ring and take care of the chickens he raised.
Man I miss those days...

did ya use these?

The ones they used back then were hard plastic spurs. No razor blades. There was a prep area where the guys would file down the natural spurs on the rooster and glue on spurs with hot glue. They looked like these

The ring looked similar to this, except a little more run down.

Sorry for the derail Allen. You just jogged some memories.

Week 1 update.
Birds have doubled in size. Their wings are pretty much feathered and starting to get tail feathers. Had one casualty. We had the brooder inside laundry room during cold . One morning rushing to get son off to school laundry door got left open and my attack daschund killed one of them. I got a dog pen to raise them in. I need to finish it off a bit. I will be glad to get them out of my screened porch. They eat and crap a lot, BTW...

Just got home and every last friggin bird I had is gone. 8 weeks down the drain. I swear if I find a feather near where that neighbor's cat patrols it's a dead cat.
