I finally got around to processing some animals this weekend. Made 12lbs of deer summer sausage, 8lbs of deer bologna, 8lbs of deer salami, 8lbs of deer brats, 6 lbs of maple deer breakfast sausage and 5lbs of deer snack sticks. The remainder are roasts, steaks, backstraps, tenderloins and hamburger.
Freezer tallies are:
1 elk
2 mule deer
3 whitetails
1 gator
35 quail
10 pheasants
1/2 an axis deer
1 hog
I hope this last until next season. I need to seriously invest in a standup freezer.
Made some elk stew on Saturday too. Made for great left overs in this rain.
Looks good. I have three freezers just about full. I am hoping I can find someone to go with me this coming weekend and put one more animal in the freezer
i have a big stand up freezer with two frozen pizzas in it. So plenty of room if any one needs or wants to fill it. lol
Yeah, it looks like my season is just about over. Don't know if I'll have time to put another deer in the freezer but I do have a quota hog hunt at Lafayette WEA in Feb. Hopefully I can put a porker down. I think this is the first year hunts are being offered there, I think it's newly aquired hunting lands. You know anything about the area?
I'm very impressed, nice job. My wife's wanting me to kill a big muley buck in a bad way to put on the wall. I've got 5 deer and a few hogs so far and still have lots of hunting left this season.
