I called in this bird for my youngest son on 3/18.
We had roosted a bird the night before. The next morning we went and set up on the bird as soon as the gate opened. The bird was only roosted a 100 yds off the road. As soon as it was light enough the bird started gobbling on the roost a truck slow rolls down the road and stopped about 40 yards from where we had set up. The driver got out of the truck and hit his call and the bird started gobbling. I could hear the guy tell him buddy "g-damn that bird sounds close. The guys shut off the truck, grab their gear and i see the bird pitch off the roost going going the other way.
I don't think I need to tell anyone just how mad I was. Mind you my truck was parked 150 yards down the road. I do remember yelling a few choice words towards these guys.........This was the 3rd time in 3 years that other hunters had buggered up a bird my son was on.

We gathered out crap up and went out on the road. I told my son we needed to move on to try and find another bird. He looks off to the north and says he thinks he hears a bird gobbling down the road that way. Off we go.......geez we must have gone a 1/2 mile before I can hear the bird. Thank goodness for young ears.
We closed the distance to @150 yds and setup. I pulled the call and go silent routine on him. I only responded to his gobbles after he had gobbled twice. Last time I responded to his calls I hit him with hard cuts and yelps. He went gonzo with double gobbles.
When the bird came in and saw the deek he went in to full strut...right behind a blow down where we could see him but couldn't shoot through the crap.
We watched the bird dance in circles for over 30 mins. Finally the bird steps in the opening and my son dropped him in his tracks.
