if youre right handed, those shots to the hard right are tough, gotta practice shooting lefty. a 22 pistol might be handy.
Well I did get one this morning. It started out slow and we finally went to hearing a few birds here and there but the first two we heard were already being pursued by other hunters. We finally get on what we thought was 1 gobbler but he was gobbling a lot. We are moving close and he hangs up on the other side of a small creek. We move around the bend of the creek and he's hot and gobbling good. We wait him out and I'm thinking we need to move closer and now's our chance. He's moved down the creek and is still on the other side of the creek.
I motion to my friend setup behind me and as soon as I turn my head he says to your left, and I catch a gobbler approaching. I didn't get my gun up in time and once he gets behind a big oak I raise up. He disappeared behind the oak and I knew that I had missed my chance. We sit for 5 mins listening to the other gobbler still gobbling and then hear a gobbler behind us. My buddy tells me turn around and get ready. He's gobbling a little weird to me and I see him, my buddy tells me shoot him and I do. Little did I know, it was a jake with a 4 inch beard. It's still my first gobbler so I'm proud anyway. I know from now on not to shoot the weird sounding gobblers..
Nothing wrong with it at all. Congrats, and welcome to the turkey hunter addictions anonymous :tequila .
