Your wifes bird must have escaped from someones house and turned wild. That is a Merriams which can be bought at feed stores all over the country.

I saw this earlier and thought it looked like a domestic gone wild

Out of wild animals turkeys have been found to tame down the quickest of them all but also they go back to being wild the quickest also. Yeah probably bought from a farm store and took off with a group of hens happens all the time. Good to get them out the gene pool sure do not want to get hybrids in a area where they are not suppose to be.

the fella told me that there were some domestics that got away about 6 years ago, this bird aged at about 2 years old. they probably have gotten crossed up around there. But it was her first and he gobbled good and got her excited. Im not gonna tell her any different and I hope she never reads this.

Still a wild turkey, and don't see why she shouldn't be as proud of it as any other!
