OK got some questions. I want to site in my turkey gun and want to know.. What distance should i do it from? Now im sure i have to make sure my spread is on the turkeys head of the target.

Another question. Will regular 00 buckshott be sighted in the same way . basically if i site it in with the turkey loads will i have to re site it in again with 00 for hogs..?

I always heard to pattern the gun by aiming aim at the wattle ( the center part of the neck).now I figure max effective range is approx 40 yds and patterned at that distance, but hope shots will be 1/2 that distance. I've killed about a dozen all with 1 shot using 2 3/4" and 3" #6 and 7 1/2's at app 20 yds or less, the only one that got away was at about 40 yd's hit twice with 3 1/2" #6's with my beneli, that was the last turkey I shot back in 2002.

Here's how I did mine.
Print off a bunch of 8" circle targets. Start off at 10 yards with some cheap #8 bird shot.
The pattern will be about the size of a golf ball at that distance
get it dead on then back off to 20, and adjust it. Then 30, then 40. You gotta hold it dead ass on on a shooting vice or good bags. Then shoot your turkey loads and fine tune again

Chuck told me that to always aim for the spot where the neck skin meets the feathers. At 40 yards and beyond aim for the beak to compensate for drop

Start at say 10 yards and make sure poa is close to poi with a dove load. Then get back at 40 with a 30x30 piece of cardboard. Mark you a 3 in circle and fire one off. Then mark a 10" circle of the densist part of your pattern. That will be your poi. If you use adjustable sights then move accordingly. Also make sure your barrel and choke is polished as that is a major factor how well your gun patterns.
