Is that the preferred shot with a bow or does it matter?

No with a bow you want to trace up the leg and hit right above where the leg meets the body. A turkey needs his legs to launch and fly and if you shoot him there he cant launch and you will get all the vitals you need. Now if you can hit him in the neck with a bow it definately will do the job but its hard enough to hit with a shotgun.
