Nephew had a permit this weekend so we headed out there on Friday afternoon to try to roost a bird . We got to the spot and saw a nice gobbler headed to roost . Kinda knew where he was going so we didn't go further . Checked a few other trees on the way out and didn't see any birds up there which was odd . Sat morning as we got close to where the gobbler was roosting , a stampede of cows blew out of an oak head , CRAP !!!!!!! . We still sat there and hoped he stayed and not flew off cross country . Morning came and not a peep from . But 300 yards from where we came through there were 3 to 4 gobblers fired up . Every crow call , and my call they would fire off . I turned my attention to them . I kept calling but they would cut me off . They kept gobbling but not moving . About 7:00 and thick flog rolled in and we could see 80 yards . I called a few times they would answer but still not moving . With the fog we had good cover to move through the pasture . We moved about 150 yards where we would not be so exposed . Called a couple more times and 3 gobblers fired off . 2 to the right and one to the left . Now it's 8:15 and fog is thinning , I told Bryan it's time to haul butt to some cabbage palms we had infront about another hundred yards . My plan was to get in between the gobblers and call . We quickly settled down and threw couple yelps and on opposite sides of us they gobbled . The 2 on the left were closer , I called again and the one on the left gobbled and closer . I looked and caught movement 50 yards infront and saw one coming out of some high grass , then the other . Told Bryan to turn on the red dot and take the safety off , this was gonna be close . Both were standing at 20-21 yards , I told him to raise the gun and fire . I watched as he raised the barrel and the turkey's eyes got big , he fired and he dropped . I turn to Bryan and I could see the smile through the face mask . Couple high fives and mission completed . This is his second . 13 lbs , 4" Beard , Congrats B
